After meeting at Miles Coffee in Liverpool Science Park on Monday 28 September 2026, we headed to the Metropolitan Cathedral. Sketchbooks record the crown and broad steps outside, street views around Mount Pleasant, and the coloured light within.
Frederick Gibberd’s cathedral was built between 1962 and 1967 and consecrated in May 1967. Its circular form and lantern make an unmistakable subject, whether drawn from the approach or studied from inside.
