Chantilly’s Beatles Café and Mathew Street

On Monday 17 July 2023, we met at Chantilly’s Beatles Café and sketched along Mathew Street. The throwdown brought together views down the narrow street, its shopfronts and figures drawn around the Cavern Quarter. Before its association with the Beatles, Mathew Street was part of Liverpool’s produce trade. The Cavern occupied a cellar beneath a former warehouse, a very different use for the buildings lining the street.
