Exchange Station, Tithebarn Street

On Monday 23 February 2026, we met at Exchange Station on Tithebarn Street. The former railway frontage, nearby streets, interior windows and plants supplied subjects for ink drawings and watercolours, with photographs of sketchbooks in progress and the final throwdown. Liverpool Exchange opened as a railway station in 1850 and closed in 1977, when local services moved into the new Merseyrail tunnels. The surviving frontage recalls this part of the city’s railway history.
